This section focuses on the current programs, services and events offered to local landowners and resource users.  If you have a specific need or an idea for programming not currently available, we would love to hear from you!

Fishing in the Bancroft Area

If you are an avid angler, you may also want to find out about stocking activities and volunteer opportunities through the North Hastings Community Fish Hatchery (www.fishhatchery.ca) – ‘Local Fish for Local Lakes’.

BASC Tree & Shrub Program

Provides low-cost tree and shrub seedlings to eligible landowners for a variety of planting applications, including reforestation, wildlife habitat enhancement and shoreline naturalization.

Detailed information on the program, including pricing and species availability, is generally available in the fall of each year.  Orders are placed in the fall / winter to arrive the following 

spring, and are available for pick-up the first weekend in May (weather permitting).   

NOTE: Access to the Trees Ontario tree planting subsidy programs is now being offered locally by the Bancroft Area Forest Industry Association.  Visit www.bafia.ca for more details.

Nurture Nature Series

A partnership with the Bancroft Field Naturalist Club, this monthly Series features expert guest seakers and special interactive summer demonstrations focussing on a variety of natural resource themes.  Click here for the complete listing. 

Bancroft Nature Discovery Tours

We've partnership with the Bancroft & District Chamber of Commerce and other community partners to deliver guided nature tours to residents and visitors.  Expanding on the Chamber's successful mineral tours, additional tours will include the local fish hatchery, forestry, naturalist-themed tours (birds and flowers), and an autumn elk tour.  For additional information, visit www.BancroftDistrict.com.

Nesting Box Program

The Stewardship Council in partnership with the Bancroft Field Naturalist Club offer low cost bluebird houses and bat boxes for purchase by local landowners.  Special thanks to our sponsors Freymond Lumber Ltd. and Wilson's TimBr-Mart for supplying the lumber and hardware!
